Report a water, electricity or road fault
The correct municipal reporting routes for Langeberg and Breede Valley, what to include and how to follow up.
Check who supplies the service
For an electricity interruption, check whether your account names the municipality or another supplier. Use that supplier’s reporting route for its network. Check official notices for planned maintenance, then report an unexplained fault through the appropriate service channel.
Report from a safe position. Do not touch fallen wires, open electrical equipment or enter a damaged road or flooded area to take a photograph. A report on the Hub does not open a municipal service request.
Langeberg reporting routes
For Montagu, Ashton, Robertson, Bonnievale and McGregor, Langeberg lists a 24/7 emergency and customer-care call centre: 0860 88 1111 or 023 615 2219. Its service-request WhatsApp number is 065 211 7822. The municipality logs the report and allocates it to the relevant department.
Use these routes for water and sewer faults, roads and stormwater problems, electricity and streetlights. Ask for a reference number and keep it for follow-up.
For Langeberg WhatsApp reports, the municipality asks residents to use text instead of voice notes where possible. It says a logged complaint receives an SMS reference. Keep that number; a reference records the request and does not promise a repair time. During load shedding, its published alternatives are WhatsApp 065 211 7822 or a call to 061 005 6381 if landlines are unavailable. These reporting instructions were checked on the official page on 18 September 2026.
Breede Valley reporting route
For Worcester, De Doorns, Rawsonville and Touwsrivier, Breede Valley Municipality publishes 086 012 1212 on its water and sanitation, roads and electricity pages. Its electricity page also lists ssc@bvm.gov.za. Describe the service and location clearly so your report reaches the correct team.
Give the operator a usable report
- Location: give the town, street and nearest house number or a clear landmark. For a road, describe the affected section.
- Problem: explain what you can see, such as water coming through the road surface, a streetlight that is out or a pothole. Avoid guessing the technical cause.
- Timing and extent: say when you noticed it and whether one property, several properties or a wider area appears affected.
- Contact and evidence: provide a callback number directly to the official channel, plus a safe photograph or account/meter number when relevant. Keep personal account details out of public social-media comments.
Prepare a clear fault report
Describe what happened without guessing the cause. For example, “water is coming through the road surface near the corner” gives the operator an observation to record. Include a clear location so the team can find it.
Use this blank template in your own notes, then send it through the correct official reporting channel. Give personal contact details directly to the municipality, not in a public comment. Add a photograph only when you can take it safely.
- Town: ______
- Street and nearest number or landmark: ______
- Service affected: ______
- What I can see: ______
- When I first noticed it: ______
- Area affected, if known: ______
- My name: ______
- Callback number: ______
- Previous reference, if this is a follow-up: ______
Follow up using the same reference
Record the date, channel used and reference number. When you follow up, quote that reference and explain what has changed. Ask about the next step and any available progress update; a reference number confirms the report was recorded, not that the fault has been repaired.
Keep the date, channel and response with the original record. Follow the official service's instructions if it asks for a new report. For an electricity fault, use the network supplier named on your account; the municipal route is not automatically the right route for every property.
- I am following up on reference [number], reported on [date].
- Location: [location].
- The problem is [still present / has changed as follows].
- Please confirm the current status and the next step.
